On this day 19 years ago, my life changed forever.
19 years ago, I was WALKING on my own two feet, out the door for work. It was a Sunday and I had a 7-4 shift and was working the floor, so was I to stock/straighten all my shelves in HBA (health and beauty aides) and give sporting goods and hardware their lunch breaks. I mixed paint that day, just before heading home at 4 pm.
The wreck was right around 7:30pm, give or take.
I remember hearing the crash and my body going to the right and hitting something (someone?, and then to the left. I then remember flying a little, hitting something else (the other car we assume), hitting something again (we assume a tree) and then rolling for what seemed like forever.
Finally I stopped.
There’s much more but hours later, when I made it to Galveston, I remember a dozen doctors over me. I remember ripping out my breathing tube. I remember the same question OVER AND OVER. Can you feel this? This? No. No. Again and again. It was all gone.
