Life is chugging right along Despite all the Covid madness.
Late last week I got an email from one of the vineyards where we subscribe for regular wine. We had too much wine sitting in storage, so we needed to come pick it up (contactless, curbside) or they were going to ship it. We knew that would be expensive, so we decided to take the 90 minute drive and get it ourselvesWe knew that would be expensive so we decided to take the 90 minute drive and get it ourselves.
When I was checking out the website, so I could call and schedule my pick up it turned out they had reopened for tastings. As members, we get two free tastings pretty much every time we want to make the trip to Fredericksburg. It’s equal to about a large glass of wine and an hour of someone’s time. They take you through about six different wines. They start with Light and white to slowly move to Bold and red.
I have enjoyed tastings many times pre-Covid, but my husband had never actually gone and sat down for an official tasting. He had only ever attended the member pick ups, which are way busier and you move to different groups. Obviously they are not doing those right now.
I am still not sure if it was the best idea but we decided to be brave and stayed for a tasting. There was tremendous amount of space between tables. And our server stayed about 6 feet away from us when he was talking about the wines.
