We took our annual beach trip to Galveston this year. This will be year 2.
We used to go to Port Aransas but my blogging bestie moved to the island, so it was a no brainer to make the switch. The 200 mile difference between us means we take advantage of girl time, whenever possible. Luckily our husbands tolerate the back and forth.
It’s no secret that I love nautical Lilly Pulitzer prints. It’s one of those random facts about me that I would include In a 100 random facts about me list. Yes, it’s silly. I’m probably too old to wear Lilly. Is 37 to old?! I really hope not but for now I usually only wear it to the beach or on our sailboat. Um, Charlie, we really need to fix that before next summer.
This year we ate probably ate enough fresh gulf shrimp to last the rest of the year, but who am I kidding?! Everyone in my family just love gulf shrimp and fresh gulf fish. If it came out of the water, we like it. We are quickly learning which restaurants are overly touristy, we try to avoid those. We prefer to eat like the Islanders.
There is a cute little candy store/soda shop on the island that we like to visit. Last year we missed the taffy pull but this year we just so happened to get there 15 minutes before they started. It was really fun to watch. I had no idea how much work it took to get those heavenly little bits of candy.
The boys only wanted to spend one day on the sand, which was a little disappointing but it gave us more time to visit museums and do really touristy things.
Maybe next year we will soak up the sun a little more!
